HiWayVU

HiWayVu is a customized communications and display program running in a
network environment. HiWayVu no longer supports dial-up sites.
Current version is 5.0.
The SmarTek Systems HiWayVU Plus running in Windows 2000 or XP. HiWayVU Plus provides an effective means for acquiring traffic, environmental, and/or
video image data from T-BOX equipped remote monitoring sites. HiWayVU Plus can also
automatically poll each monitoring site or receive remote sites initiated event based
information and alerts. As conditions improve or become worse, the remote sites inform
HiWayVU Plus running on the local desktop PC or server of the situation automatically.
The interactive user interface for HiWayVU Plus is simple and effective. Point and click to see remote site data and frame captured video images. HiWayVU Plus also includes an interface for incorporating an LED Electronic Moving Message Sign for displaying up to the moment information about each remote site being monitored. The current configuration for HiWayVU Plus includes capability for monitoring significant numbers of multi-lane traffic sites (up to 10 lanes) and multi-camera (up to 40 cameras using a T-BOX controlled video switch) facilities such as highway rest areas. Planned enhancements to HiWayVU Plus will incorporate monitoring and presentation of remote weather station information and information from multi-function sites (traffic, weather, pavement conditions, etc.).
Specific capabilities and features of HiWayVU Plus include:
- Geographic or map based situation display format which incorporates color coded (for alerting) site icons.
- Simple point and click Windows based setup and operation.
- Optional polling of sites at a specified interval or to receive via site initiated communications
- Traffic data presentation area (up to 10 lanes) and a color or b/w image viewer for presentation of frame captured video images.
- User enabled poll following mode in which the displayed site data and image automatically changes to each site as it is polled.
- User enabled audible alerts to complement the color coded icons used for visual alerting.
- Multi-level map displays which automatically show all appropriate site icons if the remote site is located within the coverage area corresponding to the map.
- Capability which allows the user to easily include new monitored sites as they are deployed (simply add appropriate site information such as site id, site password, phone number, latitude, longitude, etc., to the HiWayVU Plus site parameter file).
User enabled LED Electronic Moving Message Sign interface and status information text file generation and maintenance for providing external display and transmission of status information.
